Join us for a hands-on watercolor workshop inspired by the grounds of the Nassau County Museum of Art. Participants will paint using handmade, sustainable earth pigments while exploring the preserve’s unique colors and textures.
The workshop will begin with a live demonstration of the natural paint making process using raw earth and mineral materials. From there we will head outdoors where participants can paint plein air with the handmade watercolor paint.
To ensure your creativity continues beyond the museum grounds, every participant will receive a curated watercolor painting kit to take home. Whether you are a seasoned artist or picking up a brush for the first time, you will leave with new skills, a work of art, and the tools to keep practicing.
All art making materials are included.

ARTIST IN RESIDENCE WORKSHOP: WATERCOLOR PAINTING WORKSHOP WITH CHRISTIE JONES
Join Christie Jones for a hands-on watercolor painting workshop where you’ll explore Caumsett’s landscapes while painting with handmade, sustainable earth pigments. We’ll begin with a demonstration of the paint-making process using natural materials, followed by guided outdoor inspiration time where participants will capture an image with their smartphone or camera to come back to the studio to create their own art inspired by the park’s unique colors and textures.

SLOW FOOD EAST END EARTH DAY
Join the Slow Food East End Earth Day Celebration! I will be hosting a FREE community workshop event in the barn from 2-3 pm (first come, first serve) called, Slow Art: Handmade Watercolors & Sustainable Creativity perfect for adults & families (with child supervision).
Additionally, I will sell handmade watercolor kits, and some art! Come learn about my sustainable art practice, bonus there will be oysters and I will be recycling them to turn into more art!
